[Press Release] SAP propels Klarys into the fresh food market

Paris, December 8th, 2022 - SAP, the market leader in enterprise application software, is expanding its collaboration with the French platform Klarys and SAP.iO, SAP's startup incubator in France, to include it in its "Sustainability for consumer industries" project.

Promised to strong growth that has accelerated with SAP.iO Foundry Paris, Klarys was already among the solutions selected for its Agribusiness program in 2021.

Klarys is a SaaS platform, a pioneer in the digital transformation of the fresh food industry.It complements SAP's solutionby enabling a global management of fresh products between retailers and suppliers. The various players in the distribution industry can thus improve their productivity and product traceability, while limiting their carbon footprint. On the supplier side, the entire document chain is automated, from order to delivery, including invoicing.

SAP addresses sustainability issues with Klarys

Created in 2016 under the name Procsea, Klarys equips actors in the fresh food industry with standardized and interoperable tools, in order to share on the same platform the data (product, fishing area, labels, cultivation method, GTIN, quantity, weight, price, order date, shipping conditions, delivery, etc.) that goes from producer to consumer.

Designed to guarantee the traceability and sustainability of locally produced food, this 100% digital solution allows to visualize the entire supply chain thanks to personalized dashboards, to reconcile invoices or to simplify transactions between buyers and suppliers.

The strength of the solution also lies in its ability to take into account sustainability and traceability issues, beyond the global management of data very specific to the food industry.

Over the past 4 years, more than 400 startups have been accelerated, 165 of which have made it to the SAP e-store.

Due to the success of Klarys, SAP teams have decided to integrate the solution into a new SAP.iO Rising Star program for which only 25 entities have been selected in 2022.

Renaud Enjalbert, co-founder and CEO of Klarys said "We are delighted to work with SAP to build the fresh food industry of tomorrow. We share a common vision, we want a simpler, more efficient and sustainable industry that can connect all the actors of the sector. Through this collaboration, SAP users can benefit from our technology to change the way they work by automating manual tasks, optimizing productivity, and strengthening human relationships, while moving them toward a proven sustainable approach.”

Klarys joins the SAP.iO Rising Stars program

The SAP.iO Rising Stars program promotes a few of the most promising startups to develop their full potential with retail specialists.

Séverine Kichou, SAP.iO Foundry EMEA lead for "Rising Stars" says: "In 2021, SAP.iO Foundry Paris chose Klarys for the complementarity of the solution with SAP S/4HANA and SAP Ariba for our retail customers managing fresh food. We are proud of the path we have taken in such a short time: Procsea has achieved an integration with SAP S/4HANA; the solution is available on the SAP.store and we already have a Swiss customer in common. Thanks to Procsea's solution, we are able to offer a significant productivity gain to our retail customers. A collaboration that perfectly illustrates the added value created for our customers and our partner startups".

The ongoing collaboration has already allowed Klarys to sign with the Swiss group Bell Suisse SA, Seafood. Among the main European fresh food processors, Bell Suisse SA, Seafood has decided to accelerate the digitalization of its seafood purchasing thanks to Klarys and SAP. By adopting this solution, the company wished to reduce the administrative work of its employees by simplifying the ordering process. Indeed, from onboarding to invoicing, everything is centralized on a single platform.

The acquisition of Klarys as an eProcurement solution has opened new opportunities for Bell Suisse SA, Seafood, including:

  • A simple and complete digitalization of its purchases with all its suppliers;
  • The implementation of processes over a defined period;
  • Facilitating and optimizing traceability data;
  • Faster exchange of information.

Indeed, Klarys is a truly customized solution that provides real-time access to suppliers' fresh food catalogs (price, stock, quantity, traceability data), allows them to set up product and technical specifications, automate repetitive processes, and facilitate financial management by changing the way they process data.

The platform thus makes it possible to avoid fluctuating supplies and to maintain continuous relations with 60 to 80 suppliers per day, 180 in total, 6 times a week.

José-Manuel Seabra, Production Manager for Seafood at Bell Suisse SA, Seafood, testifies to the efficiency of the solution: "We were quickly seduced by the opportunities offered by the SAP and Klarys duo. Beyond the invoicing which is now automated, the possibility to set up notifications at the purchasing level is a real time saver. Our buyers can focus on data analysis and develop our expertise on sustainable and seasonal products. We are winning at all levels, whether it is sustainability, traceability or flexibility and reactivity.

Today, the popularity of Klarys allows the platform to be one of the 6 solutions selected by SAP.iO for the "Sustainability for consumer industries" project. Through this project, SAP wishes to enhance the sustainability aspects within the consumer industry. Because if the digital transformation of the fresh food sector is underway, it will only be successful if sustainability is really taken into account. Klarys brings an answer validated by SAP and its customers.
